Tottenham part company with head coach Vilahamn

Tottenham have parted company with Robert Vilahamn after just under two years.

Reports emerged on Saturday that he was set to be sacked by the Women’s Super League club, with Spurs confirming the decision on Sunday.

Vilahamn guided Spurs to a sixth-place finish in his first season in charge, while also leading them to a first-ever FA Cup final, which they lost to Manchester United.

This result subsequently led to Vilahamn g a three-year contract extension through to 2027.

However, in 2024-25, they finished 11th in the WSL, below Leicester City on goal difference, and just 10 points above relegated Crystal Palace.

“There have been some special moments during Robert’s tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time,” Tottenham Women’s managing director, Andy Rogers, said.

“However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect, and now is the right time to make a change.

“We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future.”

During his tenure, Vilahamn managed just 13 wins in 44 WSL matches (D12 L19). Spurs averaged just 1.2 points per game in that time, with the Swede’s win percentage sitting at 29.6%.

Spurs failed to win any of their last 10 matches in the WSL, picking up just three points in that span, with their last victory of the season coming in January against Palace.

Vilahamn’s departure follows on from Ange Postecoglou being sacked by the men’s team on Friday, just 16 days after winning the Europa League final.
