Bayer Leverkusen have added Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah to the list of potential transfer targets for this summer’s window, according to The Athletic.
The two clubs have already done business, with Liverpool g Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen and currently working on completing a deal for Florian Wirtz as well.
The Bundesliga runners-up badly need defensive reinforcements, having lost Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich, as well as Mario Hermoso who will return to AS Roma as his loan deal expires, while Odilon Koussounou isn’t expected to return to the BayArena from his loan with Atalanta, which includes a purchase option.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are not keen to have their own centre-back ranks reduced and are not looking to sell Quansah, seeing him as a player for the future. However, if Leverkusen’s interest turns serious and the 20-year-old insists on a move in search of regular game-time, they could be open to a deal, rather than have a player stay against his will.
But just as Leverkusen stuck to their demands regarding Wirtz – the deal is reportedly set to be completed for a total amount of €150 million – so Liverpool probably won’t be budging from their asking price of over £40million for Quansah.
